The Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library is a privately-supported, non-profit educational and historical research institution which acquires, maintains and preserves books, maps, photographs, and other documents relating to the history of the California missions and the early history of Spain in the Western Hemisphere and Hispanic America. As a private Library, the Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library is funded through private donations and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. It seeks to provide wide access to its holdings and serve as a resource to the community and qualified researchers. The Archive-Library organizes and participates in educational, professional and community events which support its mission, to increase the knowledge of the mission, its past, and the heritage of California and the Americas.
