Engage with History: Inspiring Presentations by Jack Clark Robinson, OFM
Enhance your next event with an inspiring presentation from Jack Clark Robinson, OFM, PhD, Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Mission Archive-Library. With a passion for history and a commitment to sharing the legacy of the Franciscans in the United States, Jack brings a wealth of knowledge and engaging storytelling to his speaking engagements.
Through various classes taught over the years at the Franciscan School of Theology, Oblate School of Theology, and the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University, as well as nearly thirty years of teaching Franciscan history to men in formation to become friars and as the author of Franciscan Friars: Coast to Coast (Arcadia Press, 2019), Fr. Jack, a Franciscan friar, specializes in the experiences of Franciscans who arrived in the United States after 1840. His research focuses on their mission to serve marginalized immigrants and proclaim the Gospel.
In his role as Executive Director of SBMAL since 2022, Fr. Jack shares the fascinating stories behind the SBMAL collection, exploring the preservation and accessibility of historical and cultural resources related to Franciscan heritage and Missions. The history he discusses includes pivotal moments, such as the 1833 secularization of the Spanish missions in Mexico, during which displaced Franciscan friars brought invaluable possessions—including documents, maps, art, books, and artifacts—to the friars who managed with the help of interested Catholic laity were able to remain in Santa Barbara.
A former missionary among Pueblo Indians in New Mexico, pastor of a Hispanic parish in Albuquerque and Minister Provincial of the New Mexico Franciscan province, Fr. Jack’s presentations delve into the interplay between Franciscans and the communities with whom they have ministered.

Intimate Sessions: Groups of fewer than 25 can enjoy personalized presentations at the Archive-Library.
Larger Audiences: For larger groups, Fr. Jack can bring his expertise and engaging style to various locations.
Speaking Fee: Speaking fee varies based on group size, location, and time commitment. Travel reimbursement, meals and accommodations are additional if required.
