Research at the Archive: The Serra Cause for Canonization

An oil painting depicting Junipero Serra from the 1800s with him in profile at center frame.

The Serra Cause for Canonization

Pope Francis I canonized Junípero Serra in 2015, making him a saint. Documents in the Serra Cause Collection describe the extensive campaign that worked to advocate for Serra's canonization. In addition you can explore finding aids related to the life and work of those involved in the Serra Cause. These collections are being processed and the finding aids will be updated periodically.
